Preventing knee discomfort

In the spring of 2014 I got knee bursitis as a result of an injury in a contemporary dance class. Because I didn't rest properly it didn't heal completely until last year, and I still had knee discomfort. My doctor said my knee discomfort was due to my weight. A week ago I read in a FB bellydance group that knee discomfort might be due to tight quads. So today I did an yin yoga video from Yoga With Kassandra, Yin Yoga for Quads, Thighs and Hip Flexors. It was a good workout, although I sat upright during hero pose instead of doing the layback because it was already a pretty intense stretch.
